It would be easy to offer a romanticized view of crafts and their makers & reflecting our desire for intact worlds elsewhere. Instead, Pauline exposes destitute environments, revealing the challenges of artisans struggling to survive in societies in transition. A narrative of places, removing the sentimentality from preconceived notions. The images are depicting voids, are testimony of desolation & dislocation while capturing a distinct mood & identity.
